Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephane Chen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Renton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Chen lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Chen rushes Renton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Renton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Chen prevents it.

Renton tightens his grip and picks Chen up, before dumping him to the ground. Chen manages to land in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Renton can do anything to dispel that myth.

Chen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Chen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Renton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Renton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Renton sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Renton is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chen is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Renton to the mat. Renton regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Stephane Chen.

Chen has hold of one of Renton's legs. Renton is fighting the takedown attempt but Chen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Renton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Renton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Renton!
Chen regains half guard, as Renton was trying to land strikes.

Chen shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Renton eats them both and turns towards Chen to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
