Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cage Nichols (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Kourdakov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nichols comes into the arena with Backyard Fighting blaring out of the sound system. Kourdakov has chosen Sonata Arctica - San Sebastian as his entrance music. Sergei Kourdakov has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Cage Nichols's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Kourdakov!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kourdakov throws a leg kick but Nichols moved away.
Kourdakov takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Nichols crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kourdakov - the referee stops the clock and Nichols gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kourdakov. Nichols manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kourdakov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Nichols scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Nichols moves away from the strike by Kourdakov.

Kourdakov scores with a crisp jab that stopped Nichols in his tracks.
Nichols fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nichols feints a jab promting Kourdakov to slip. Nichols then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kourdakov slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Nichols shoots in looking for a takedown. Kourdakov tries to sprawl out of it but Nichols keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kourdakov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nichols cracks Kourdakov with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Nichols counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kourdakov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Kourdakov swings for the body but Nichols moves out of range.

Nichols throws a shot from downtown. Kourdakov moves away and avoids it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Kourdakov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

The fighters circle momentarily. Kourdakov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nichols sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kourdakov's guard.

Kourdakov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nichols stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kourdakov stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kourdakov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Nicholss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Kourdakov is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nichols fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kourdakov on the side of the head.
Kourdakov has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kourdakov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nichols has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kourdakov clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Kourdakov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nichols is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Kourdakov with him. Kourdakov is trying to defend but Nichols has an arm under the chin now! Kourdakov grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Cage Nichols gave a mention to Backyard Fighting in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
