The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garlock gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Garlock goes for a takedown in the clinch but The Rocky Maivia prevents it.
The Rocky Maivia tries to break the clinch but Garlock is controlling the position.
The Rocky Maivia wants to get back to striking at distance but Garlock won't allow it.
The Rocky Maivia is looking to break free of the clinch but Garlock has double underhooks.
Garlock jumps guard but The Rocky Maivia stands there with Garlock around his waist. Garlock gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Garlock is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down The Rocky Maivia's shoulder. That is not cool.
The Rocky Maivia is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Garlock is controlling him well.
Garlock creates some space and throws a big elbow, but The Rocky Maivia sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Garlock feints and as The Rocky Maivia raises his hands in defense, Garlock changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Garlock is looking to take a break and control but The Rocky Maivia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Garlock is nestled in close to The Rocky Maivia, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garlock uses his free foot to push down on The Rocky Maivia's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for The Rocky Maivia.

Garlock working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The Rocky Maivia is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
The Rocky Maivia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garlock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Garlock has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The Rocky Maivia is trying to get back to his feet but Garlock has full control of the position and if anything, The Rocky Maivia has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Garlock is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged The Rocky Maivia with him. The Rocky Maivia is trying to defend but Garlock has an arm under the chin now! The Rocky Maivia grimaces and is forced to tap out!
