PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between TooReal Snow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rita Wu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snow comes to the cage accompanied by Through the Fire and Flames. Rita Wu told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, TooReal Snow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rita Wu!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snow shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Snow showed some decent athleticism there.
Snow wants to pass the guard but Wu is defending well.
Snow stalling.
Wu is trying to stand back up but Snow is controlling him
Snow perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wu blocking the ground and pound attempt from Snow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snow is trying to control the action in half guard but Wu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Snow is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wu is just riding it out for now. Snow eventually gives up the hold.

Snow is pressing down on Wu's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wu is holding on for now.

Snow looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Snow tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wu knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Snow is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wu defends it well.

Snow seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Snow sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snow is tying to control. Wu wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wu throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Wu closes the distance and clinches.
Wu misses with a knee to the head.

Snow drags the fight down to the ground.
Snow lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wu!

Snow with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Snow working for a guillotine from mount but Wu is in no mood to give up.

Snow wants to control but Wu is keeping busy.

Wu has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Snow is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Wu defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

TooReal Snow dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Snow gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wu.

Wu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Wu tries a knee to the head but Snow blocks it.
Wu throws a knee to the head but misses.
Wu misses with a knee strike.
Wu is trying to break the clinch but Snow has him pressed against the cage.
Wu with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Snow drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wu pulls his leg out and moves away.
The fighters circling - Wu throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wu looks to score with a jab to the body but Snow is just out of range.
Good shot there by Wu.
Wu lands with a cross.
Snow looks for a takedown but Wu sprawls well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Snow takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Wu misses with the combination.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wu digs a right hand underneath Snow's ribcage. Snow let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Snow fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for TooReal Snow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snow fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Snow jumps guard but Wu stands there with Snow around his waist. Snow gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wu misses with a knee strike.

Wu lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Wu scores a nice knee to the body.
Snow is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Snow can't get the takedown.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wu tries to land a knee to the head but Snow blocks with his arms.
Snow keeps control of Wu as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Wu throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Snow blocks it with crossed arms.
Knees in the clinch landing for Wu.
Snow has Wu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wu lands a knee to the head.

Wu is fighting off a takedown attempt but Snow is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wu to the mat. Wu regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Snow drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Snow jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Snow passes into half guard.
Wu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Snow.

Snow is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Snow trying to control the action but Wu is working from the bottom.
Wu wants to get back to his feet.
Snow not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wu wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snow escapes and gets back to his feet.
Nice cross by Wu.
Rita Wu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rita Wu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wu tries to avoid it but Snow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wu to the ground. Wu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Rita Wu.
I think Snow has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
