PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kid Nate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Korfel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kid Nate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Korfel!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Korfel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nate sprawls well initially but Korfel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Korfel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nate is just riding it out for now. Korfel eventually gives up the hold.

Nate is looking to escape.
Nate trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Nate really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Korfel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Daniel Korfel has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Korfel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nate's waist but Nate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Korfel off to one side.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nate rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Korfel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Korfel fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Korfel tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Nate counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Korfel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nate's guard.
Nate is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Korfel is controlling him.
Nate is wriggling around but Korfel manages to pass to half guard.
Nate is breathing heavily.
Korfel works his foot free and advances to mount.
Korfel controlling his opponent.

Korfel has hold of Nate's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nate manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nate wants to get back to his feet.
Nate knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Korfel on the ground.
Korfel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nate really wants to buck Korfel off and get back to his feet.
Korfel lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Nate hang on?
Korfel connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Korfel content just to control the position here.
Nate taking shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nate has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Korfel is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Nate is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Daniel Korfel!
