The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyotaro lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Newman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Newman scores with a three punch combo!
Donk. Kyotaro catches Newman right on the button with a cross.
Newman misses with a low kick.

Newman clinches with his opponent.
Kyotaro is trying to break the clinch but Newman has him pressed against the cage.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kyotaro is looking to stand up but Newman won't let him.
Kyotaro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Newman on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kyotaro trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Kyotaro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kyotaro cracks a nice hook into Newman's ribs.

Newman ducks under a wild hook from Kyotaro.
Newman shoots for a double leg takedown but Kyotaro sprawls well. He's pushed Newman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fujimoto Kyotaro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Newman.
Kyotaro jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Newman clinches up with Kyotaro and pushes him back against the cage.
Kyotaro struggles to land a body shot inside as Newman controls his hands.
Kyotaro tries to break the clinch but Newman is controlling the position.

Kyotaro misses with a body punch.
Kyotaro tries to break the clinch but Newman is controlling the position.
Newman blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A frustrated look appears on Kyotaro's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kyotaro has had enough of the clinch but Newman keeps him there for the moment.
Newman is looking to break free of the clinch but Kyotaro has double underhooks.
Kyotaro tries to work over Newman's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Newman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Newman shoots in looking for a takedown but Kyotaro manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Newman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kyotaro connects with a nice looking jab.
Kyotaro wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Newman is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kyotaro scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Kyotaro lands a jab-cross combination.
Kyotaro misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fujimoto Kyotaro dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Kyotaro punishes Newman's body with a nice straight punch.
Kyotaro throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kyotaro stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kyotaro lands a jab.
A jab from Kyotaro finds it's way through Newman's defenses.
Kyotaro swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Newman takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Newman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Newman takes one to the chin there.


Newman is rocked!

Kyotaro lands a right hook to the body.
Newman is still on wobbly legs! Can Kyotaro finish him?
Kyotaro scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Newman is breathing heavily.
Kyotaro throws a jab when Newman was well out of range.
Daniel Newman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Newman lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Newman.
Kyotaro connects with a crisp jab.
Newman has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
BOOM! Kyotaro lands a beautiful left hook that drops Newman. Newman tries to recover but Kyotaro is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Newman lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
