PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Des Troy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rain Ask (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ask shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Troy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ask is looking to work some ground and pound but Troy has wrist control.
Ask is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ask won't allow Troy to get back to his feet.
Ask controls from within his opponent's guard.
Ask being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Troy moves to clinch but Ask breaks away

and Ask counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Ask is pressing down on Troy's thigh, looking to free his foot. Troy is holding on for now.
Ask moves nicely into side control.
Ask gets to mount! Troy was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Ask is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Troy has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Ask putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Troy is trying desperately to improve position.
Ask is landing with some decent strikes but Troy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Ask prevents Troy from getting the reversal.
A nice elbow there by Ask.

Ask avoids the attempt from Troy to control.
Ask raining down hammerfists from mount.
Ask scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Troy tries to lock up and control but Ask gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ask looking to control but Troy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ask is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Ask lands a big shot there that rocks Troy but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ask in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Ask cracks Troy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ask tries to control but Troy wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rain Ask dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ask closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ask is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Troy defends it well.
Troy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Troy tries to get out of the position.
Troy is trying to control but Ask manages to pass to mount!
Ask connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Troy takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Troy is rocked!
Ask looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Troy covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
