PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Balance Neut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Cage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Balance Neut!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Neut's waist but Neut gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cage off to one side.
Neut throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Neut throws a lazy body kick
and Cage counters with a series of strikes. Neut will be more careful next time no doubt.
Neut goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Neut scores with a one two! Cage had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Neut lands with a good body shot.

Cage clinches up with Neut and pushes him back against the cage.
Neut tries to pull guard but Cage holds him up against the cage and eventually Neut drops back down to his feet.
Neut is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cage pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Neut is trying to break the clinch but Cage has him pressed against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cage misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Neut drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cage pulls his leg out and moves away.
Johnny Cage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Balance Neut.
Neut misses with a head kick.
Cage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cage wants it to stay on the feet.

A telegraphed right hand from Neut misses the target.
Neut throws a push kick but Cage slaps the foot to one side.
Cage throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Neut's waist but Neut gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cage off to one side.
Neut displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cage.
Neut throws a combination that misses
and Cage counters with a series of strikes. Neut will be more careful next time no doubt.
Neut tries for a takedown but Cage sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Cage counters with a one-two to the body.
Cage shoots in but no luck this time.

Cage pushes Neut up against the cage in a clinch.

Cage jumps guard.
Neut is pushing down on Cage's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cage is fighting to maintain full guard but Neut has managed to sneak the leg through.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cage tries to get to full guard but Neut has control of the leg.
Cage is not content to let Neut control the position.
Cage tries to kick Neut off but Neut keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cage is breathing heavily.

Neut not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Neut tries to stand but can't do so whilst Cage controls his leg.
Neut seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cage does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Neut with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Balance Neut has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Cage has closed the distance and engaged Neut in a clinch.
Neut is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cage gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Neut breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cage dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Neut. That did some damage!
Neut fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Neut has a takedown stuffed.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Neut throws a nice outside leg kick.
Neut throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cage connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Neut throws a lazy head kick
and Cage cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A head kick by Neut misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Cage really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Left hook, right uppercut from Neut.
Neut wants to clinch up but Cage keeps it at a distance.
Cage misses with a takedown attempt
and Neut counters with a body kick.
Neut throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cage.
Cage slips a jab and a cross from Neut.
Neut changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cage tries to avoid it but Neut manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cage to the ground. Cage escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cage avoids the body shot from Neut.
Cage throws a front kick that sends Neut stumbling back into the cage.
Neut misses with a double jab
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

A head kick misses from Neut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cage looks for a takedown but Neut sprawls well.
Neut throws a jab when Cage was well out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cage.
Neut rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cage moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Neut bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cage's head.
Neut's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Neut duly obliges.
Balance Neut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cage fails with a takedown attempt.
That kick from Neut tenderised Cage's leg. Cage is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Balance Neut dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Neut throws a shot to the body.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Neut, as that shot connected.
Neut throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cage closes the distance and clinches up with Neut, looking for a takedown. Cage pushes Neut against the cage but Neut circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Neut misses with a wild combination.
Neut slips a jab from Cage.
Nice sprawl there from Cage as Neut shoots in.
Neut shoots in for a takedown but Cage shows good takedown defense.
Neut looks to land a combination but Cage avoids it well.
A solid leg kick lands there for Neut.

Cage has Neut up against the cage in a clinch.
Cage is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Johnny Cage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Balance Neut.
Cage has Neut pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Neut manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Neut has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Cage is working for takedown but Neut is calmly controlling the position for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cage breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Neut throws a series of punches but Cage avoids them all with ease.
Cage avoids the head kick by Neut.
Neut moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Cage looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Neut is fending him off so far but Cage persists. Nope, Neut circles away and we're back to standing.
Neut lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Horrible takedown by Cage or perhaps it was just good defense by Neut which made him look bad.

Neut closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cage did well to prevent Neut getting side control.

Cage is staying active underneath Neut, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Balance Neut has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Danga de danga de dang - Neut scores with a four punch combination!
Cage keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Neut shoots in for a double leg but Cage sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Neut dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cage fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Neut avoids it really well and circles away.

Neut moves out of range of the leg kick from Cage.
Neut scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Cage gets caught flat footed, as Neut shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Neut is stalling in the full guard.

Neut stands up from Cage's guard - Neut perhaps looking for a knockout.
Cage tries to close the distance and clinch but Neut swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnny Cage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cage throws a sloppy head kick and Neut moves out of range easily.
Neut connects with a leg kick. Cage looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Balance Neut showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Neut shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cage but Cage pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Neut tries to clinch up but Cage circles away and keeps his distance.

Cage is looking for a takedown.
Neut tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cage just stands there and leans against the cage.

Cage breaks the clinch.
Neut throws a right and a left that Cage avoids nicely.
Neut with a jab.
Cage connects with a jab.
Neut tries to score with a low kick but Cage moves his leg out of the way.

Cage clinches.
Cage jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Neut walks away with a smile on his face. Cage gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Cage shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Neut defends it nicely.
No luck for Neut with that takedown attempt.
Neut pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Cage back to the cage. Neut follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Neut tries to land a front kick but Cage steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Cage misses with a takedown attempt - Neut sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Neut shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cage eats them both and turns towards Neut to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Balance Neut seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Neut lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cage's sensitive parts.
Cage takes a swing at Neut's ribcage but misses.
Neut shoots in for a double leg but Cage sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
