Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matias Fruet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Menezes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matias Fruet!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Menezes gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Fruet wants to get back to full guard.
Menezes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Menezes tries to stand but can't do so whilst Fruet controls his leg.
Fruet is trying to stand back up but Menezes is controlling him
Menezes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Fruet trying to hold on to Menezes's head to control him but Menezes postures up.

Eric Menezes has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fruet tries to bum rush Menezes with a series of wild strikes but Menezes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fruet with a lazy takedown attempt
and Menezes counters with a left to the body.
Fruet shoots in for a double leg but Menezes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Menezes clinches.
Menezes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fruet to keep the fight standing.

Menezes throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Menezes manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Menezes cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fruet is squirming around, avoiding Menezes's attempts to control the action.
Fruet in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Menezes controlling the pace for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Menezes has hold of Fruet's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fruet manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Fruet is trying to reverse the position but instead Menezes has taken his back - oops!

Menezes has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Menezes trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Fruet doesn't escape.

Fruet trying to control the hands but Menezes won't let him.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fruet covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Menezes dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Menezes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Menezes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fruet is trying to control the position but Menezes postures up.
Menezes is looking to stand up but Fruet won't let him.
Fruet lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Menezes!

Fruet can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Menezes is looking to escape.

Fruet goes for an armbar but Menezes turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Menezes.
Menezes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fruet is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Menezes passes into half guard.

Menezes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
It looks like Menezes is going to stand back up.

Fruet is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Menezes pulls his head out easily.
Fruet is breathing heavily.
Menezes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
It looks like Menezes is going to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Menezes wants to pass the guard but Fruet is defending well.
Menezes seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fruet is trying to maintain the position but Menezes is very close to passing his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Menezes closes the distance and pushes Fruet back into the cage.
Fruet stalling in the clinch.

Menezes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Eric Menezes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Menezes feints and as Fruet raises his hands in defense, Menezes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Menezes controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Menezes forces his way into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Menezes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Fruet is trying to escape back to his feet but Menezes uses the scramble to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Menezes dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Menezes takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Menezes has closed the distance and engaged Fruet in a clinch.
Menezes is trying to force a seperation but Fruet has the dominant position.
Fruet goes for a takedown in the clinch but Menezes prevents it.

Menezes is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Fruet can't fight it off and eventually Menezes manages to take the fight to the floor. Fruet looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Eric Menezes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fruet looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Menezes passes into half guard.

Menezes keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Menezes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fruet keeps working.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Menezes scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Menezes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Menezes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Fruet wants to control but Menezes is keeping busy.

Menezes is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fruet is defending against the submission attempts here by Menezes.
Fruet has his hands clasped together around Menezes's back. He's all about the action.

Menezes is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Menezes is landing with some decent strikes but Fruet is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Menezes mounts Fruet! Really nice guard pass there!

Menezes has control of Fruet's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Fruet regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Menezes pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Menezes controlling the position easily from mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Menezes trying to control but he's not successful this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Eric Menezes showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Menezes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
