PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jager Statsy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Inclan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Inclan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Inclan!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Statsy stuffs the takedown attempt from Inclan. Inclan gets slowly back to his feet.
Inclan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Inclan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Statsy sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

enabling Statsy to counter with a crisp jab.

Rafael Inclan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Statsy leaves Inclan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Statsy shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Inclan is trying to defend but Statsy finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Inclan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Statsy is fending him off so far but Inclan persists. Nope, Statsy circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheers as Statsy lands an impressive looking overhand right. Inclan doesn't seem phased though.

Inclan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Statsy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Statsy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Inclan as he jumps to the side.
Statsy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Inclan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Statsy tries to avoid it but Inclan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Statsy to the ground. Statsy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Inclan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Statsy cracks Inclan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Statsy scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jager Statsy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Statsy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Inclan's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
