And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Doe!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doe paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Doe throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Benson on the side of the head.
Benson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Nice body punch from Doe.
Benson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Doe goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Doe scores with a decent looking hook.
Benson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Doe circles away.
Benson throws a nice looking combination but Doe bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Benson misses with a double jab
and Doe counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A nice combination there by Doe.
Benson fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Benson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Doe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Doe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Doe scores with a nice strike.

Benson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Benson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Doe.

Benson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Doe on his heels. He'll look to pass Doe's guard now, I'm sure.

Benson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Benson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Doe is looking to stand up but Benson isn't so interested in that idea.

Benson wants to control from the top but Doe keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Doe looks winded!
Benson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doe keeps working.

Benson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Doe has escaped the position, nice work there.

Benson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benson advances to full mount.

Benson working for a submission but Doe is keeping him at bay.
Doe is trying to escape the mount but Benson keeps good control and instead manages to take Doe's back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Benson is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Doe with him. Doe is trying to defend but Benson has an arm under the chin now! Doe grimaces and is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ben Benson!
Ben Benson gave a mention to Valhalla Q160 Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
