The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cavallo dives in and grabs Mar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mar pushes down on Cavallo's head and hops out.
Cavallo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mar checks a leg kick.
Cavallo misses with an uppercut. Mar saw that one coming.

Mar gets caught flat footed, as Cavallo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Cavallo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cavallo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mar wants to control but Cavallo postures up.
Cavallo creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mar sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Cavallo scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mar to see if he's OK.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cavallo is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Mar looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cavallo gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Mar is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cavallo lets go of the hold and Mar can pop his arm back in it's socket.
