Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gauge Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Here Comes the Boom-Intimidation. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gauge Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Blake Jenkins! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jenkins's guard. Diaz throwing strikes from guard but Jenkins blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Diaz postures up in Jenkins's guard and throws a big left but Jenkins blocks it. Diaz throwing strikes but missing. Diaz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Diaz throws a big elbow that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz throwing strikes from guard but Jenkins blocks nicely. Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Diaz wants to pass the guard but Jenkins is keeping the position. Diaz engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Jenkins is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Diaz drives through with a takedown into guard. Diaz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Jenkins working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Diaz. Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz looking to pass the guard. Diaz trying to control but Jenkins is working from the bottom. Diaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Diaz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Diaz looking to pass the guard. Diaz cracks Jenkins with a solid left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Diaz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Diaz trying to control but Jenkins is working from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jenkins working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Diaz. Diaz distracts Jenkins with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gauge Diaz dominated that round. That's time! Diaz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jenkins shoots and misses so Diaz counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jenkins keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Gauge Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jenkins being controlled here, momentarily. Jenkins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Diaz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gauge Diaz wasn't doing enough on the ground. Jenkins with a poor takedown and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jenkins won't be happy with that. An elbow from Diaz crashes against the mat.

Diaz tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Diaz working away. Diaz in side control, throwing shots but Jenkins defends. Diaz wants to control for a moment but Jenkins uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Nice strikes from Diaz there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diaz connects with a nice short shot to Jenkins's temple. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jenkins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Diaz. Diaz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Jenkins is trying to control but can't.
Jenkins actively working from the bottom here. Diaz wants to control but Jenkins is keeping him busy. Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jenkins's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diaz in particular looking to stall. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Diaz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Diaz missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Diaz is taking a breather. Jenkins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Diaz lands a nice short elbow. Diaz trying to pass the guard but Jenkins defending well. Jenkins taking some punishment here, with Diaz in his half guard. Well, if Diaz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Diaz wants to take a breather but Jenkins is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jenkins tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Diaz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jenkins swivels and escapes. Diaz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jenkins. Blake Jenkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz drives through with a takedown into guard. Diaz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jenkins avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Diaz stays in close to Jenkins's body and controls the position. Diaz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but Jenkins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Diaz scoring with punches to the head and body. Jenkins trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz stays in close to Jenkins's body and controls the position. Diaz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jenkins for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jenkins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat. Jenkins tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily and Diaz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz throws a strike but Jenkins rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Diaz has Jenkins pulled in close to control his posture.
And that's the end of the fight! Gauge Diaz showed his dominance in that final round. Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
