The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randall displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Maxey.

Randall dives in and grabs Maxey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maxey pushes down on Randall's head and hops out.

Maxey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Randall tries to avoid it but Maxey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Randall to the ground. Randall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Maxey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Maxey looks winded!
Randall throws a series of punches but Maxey moves out of range.
Maxey defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Randall.
Maxey seems to have recovered his senses.
Maxey tries to clinch but Randall is having none of it.
Maxey throws a combination. Randall tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Randall closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Maxey quickly recovers to half guard.

Randall is looking to advance position but Maxey won't allow it.

Randall is looking to take a break and control but Maxey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee asks Randall politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Randall prefers to stall for the moment though.
You can see the frustration on Maxey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Maxey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Randall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vince Randall has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Randall tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maxey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Randall somewhat.

Vince Randall spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
