Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Southworth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quinton Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Southworth fails to land the takedown.
Southworth lands a nice shot that snaps Jackson's head back.
Southworth misses with a body kick.

Jackson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jackson lands a few punches from side control.
Southworth is trying to control Jackson's posture but Jackson avoids it.
Jackson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
You can see the frustration on Southworth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Southworth manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Southworth is trying to get back to full guard.
Jackson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Jackson wants to free his trapped foot but Southworth is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Jackson moves nicely into side control.
Southworth gets back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jackson shoots for a takedown but Southworth saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jackson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
No luck for Southworth with that takedown attempt.
Southworth lands with a nice combination. Jackson backs away looking to recover.
Southworth throws a head kick that misses.
Jackson looks for a takedown but Southworth sprawls well.

Southworth closes the distance and clinches.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.
Southworth has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Southworth. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson slips a jab and a cross from Southworth.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jackson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Southworth shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Southworth postures up.
Southworth won't allow Jackson to get back to his feet.
Southworth wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

Southworth stands and steps away. Jackson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Quinton Jackson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Southworth tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Southworth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Southworth gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown. Southworth fights it but they end up in guard.
Quinton Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Southworth throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Jackson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Southworth works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Southworth wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Southworth manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Southworth working for a submission but Jackson is keeping him at bay.
Jackson is working to get back to half guard.

Southworth controlling from the full mount.
Jackson is trying to escape the mount.
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Southworth's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jackson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Southworth landing punches.
Southworth wants to control the pace but Jackson is squirming around nicely.
Southworth cracks Jackson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jackson wants to control but Southworth is having none of it.
A nice elbow there by Southworth.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Southworth tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson works his way to full guard. Good work.
Southworth is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Southworth has managed to sneak the leg through.
Southworth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Southworth wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Southworth bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Southworth swings around for an armbar but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Southworth's guard.

Southworth seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jackson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Southworth is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jackson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Southworth's guard.
Jackson wants to pass the guard but Southworth is keeping the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Southworth fails to land the takedown.
Jackson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Southworth pinned against the cage. Southworth gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Southworth looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bobby Southworth showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jackson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
