Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yoshihito Nakamura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steve Willis!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willis looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Nakamura closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Willis quickly recovers to half guard.

Willis looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Nakamura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Yoshihito Nakamura has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Nakamura leaves Willis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Willis or perhaps it was just good defense by Nakamura which made him look bad.
Nakamura tries to clinch but Willis moves out of range.

Nakamura drives through and clinches with Willis against the cage.
Nakamura looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Willis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nakamura pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Yoshihito Nakamura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Willis.
Nakamura is trying to break free.

Nakamura manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Willis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Nakamura working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Willis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Willis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nakamura wants to sweep here but Willis controlling him for the moment.
Willis wants to control from the top but Nakamura keeps moving.
Willis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Willis drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nakamura looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nakamura looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nakamura!

Nakamura decides to stand up, so the ref orders Willis to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Nakamura closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Willis to the mat! Willis manages to get full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura pushing down on Willis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Willis is trying to stand.
Willis tries to get to full guard but Nakamura has control of the leg.
Nakamura is pressing down on Willis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Willis is holding on for now.

Nakamura looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Willis kicks off Nakamura and gets to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Willis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nakamura to the mat! Nakamura manages to get full guard.
Nakamura looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Nakamura working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Willis.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yoshihito Nakamura dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Nakamura misses with a wild body shot.
Nakamura throws a leg kick that is checked
and Willis counters with an inside leg kick.

Nakamura drives through and clinches with Willis against the cage.
Nakamura gets underhooks to prevent Willis's takedown attempt.

Nakamura is trying to trip Willis. He has hold of a leg but Willis is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Nakamura persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Willis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nakamura defends it easily.
Willis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Willis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Nakamura has his hands clasped together but Willis extends an breaks Nakamura's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Willis.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Steve Willis!
