Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tyson Pearson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Zhijing Wang!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pearson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wang sprawls well initially but Pearson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wang wants to sweep but Pearson has passed to side control!
Wang struggling a bit here.
Wang regains half guard.
Pearson wants to pass the guard but Wang is defending well.

Pearson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wang doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pearson.
Wang gets full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pearson wants to control from the top but Wang keeps moving.

Wang is looking for a triangle but Pearson pushes his legs off easily.

Pearson wants to control the pace but Wang is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wang is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Pearson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wang can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pearson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Wang to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Wang shrugs it off.
Pearson looking to ground and pound but Wang is blocking nicely.
Wang is squirming around, avoiding Pearson's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wang gets back to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Wang tries to get to full guard but Pearson has control of the leg.
Wang is pressing down on Pearson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pearson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Pearson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wang struggling a bit here.

Pearson is trying to control. Wang wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Pearson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Pearson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Wang tries to lock up and control but Pearson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Wang is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wang wants to control but Pearson is having none of it.

Pearson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wang has worked his arm free - good work by Wang!

Wang is not content to let Pearson control the position.
Wang struggling a bit here.

Pearson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Wang sneaks back into half guard.
Tyson Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pearson is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Wang reverses the position - he's now on top in Pearson's guard.
Wang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pearson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wang defends well.

Pearson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Wang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pearson is keeping the position for now.
Pearson keeping moving, preventing Wang from controlling successfully.
Pearson can't keep his opponent in guard - Wang advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wang throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Wang is keen to just control but Pearson is a slippery customer.

Pearson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wang pulls his head out easily.
Pearson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pearson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Wang defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Pearson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wang can pounce on him.
Pearson throws an off balance right hand
and Wang counters with a straight right hand.
Pearson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slapping body kick lands there for Wang.
Pearson shoots in for a double leg but Wang sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wang, right into the meat.
Wang scores with a head kick.
Pearson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wang circles away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wang scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Tyson Pearson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wang throws a leg kick which misses Pearson's front leg but catches the back leg as Pearson tries to avoid it.
Wang fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pearson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pearson loads up on a big right hand but Wang slips the punch.
Wang dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Pearson. That did some damage!

Pearson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Pearson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson Pearson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wang darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Wang stalling.
Pearson is not content to let Wang control the position.
Wang looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Wang is looking to advance position but Pearson won't allow it.
Zhijing Wang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pearson is in trouble now - Wang has advanced to mount!
Wang lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pearson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Pearson is in a horrible position here. Wang smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Wang moves into full mount! Pearson won't be happy about that!

Wang lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Pearson.

Wang is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pearson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Wang's guard. Nice work there by Pearson.

Pearson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Wang is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pearson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wang has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pearson has managed to get both his arms back between Wang's legs - danger averted.
Tyson Pearson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Wang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pearson is aware though and is defending well.

And that's the end of the fight!
Zhijing Wang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pearson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
