Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dj Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lj Gibbs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gibbs has chosen LJ Gibbs as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gibbs shoots in and bounces Nelson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Gibbs got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nelson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gibbs has managed to get both his arms back between Nelson's legs - danger averted.

Gibbs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gibbs not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gibbs is in close to Nelson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Gibbs decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nelson, up you get!
Nelson misses with a lunging right hand
and Gibbs counters with a one-two to the body.
Gibbs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nelson's waist but Nelson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gibbs off to one side.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nelson closes the distance but Gibbs moves to the side
and Gibbs counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Gibbs closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gibbs lands in his opponent's guard.

Gibbs stands and steps away. Nelson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nelson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gibbs.
Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Gibbs sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Gibbs is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nelson's half guard.
Nelson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nelson is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Gibbs seems content to control.

Gibbs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Gibbs has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Nelson defend it? Gibbs steps over the head and cranks it - Nelson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gibbs!
