Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karim Al Abib (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Relion Joaquin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karim Al Abib!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Relion Joaquin!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Abib closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Joaquin did well to prevent Al Abib getting side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Al Abib tries to stand and escape but Joaquin is controlling the position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Al Abib is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Al Abib thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Joaquin seems to have recovered his senses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Karim Al Abib.
Joaquin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Al Abib sprawls well. Al Abib wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Joaquin gets slowly back to his feet.

Joaquin tries to keep at a distance but Al Abib has taken the fight into the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Al Abib tries to score a power double leg takedown but Joaquin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Al Abib somewhat.

Al Abib leaves Joaquin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Al Abib is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Joaquin is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Al Abib's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Joaquin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Well Al Abib has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
