Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nixon comes to the cage accompanied by The Upsetters - Dread Lion. Devon James will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard Nixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devon James!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nixon misses with an uppercut
and James counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nixon connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between James's hands.
James lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nice defenses there by Nixon.
Nixon lunges at James with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by James's hand.

Nixon clinches with his opponent.
James jumps guard but Nixon stands there with James around his waist. James gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Nixon.
A right hand to the body from Nixon.
Nixon gets through James's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nixon throws a head punch that misses.
Nixon lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Nixon misses with some punches.
Nixon misses with a punch on the inside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nixon misses with a short punch on the inside.
James is trying to pull guard but Nixon has him pressed against the cage.
James blocks an uppercut.

James has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nixon uses from the top position.

James pushes Nixon off and scrambles back to his feet.
Nixon thows a body shot but no joy.
James misses with a two punch combination.
James pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
A lazy body kick from Nixon
and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nixon throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A slapping leg kick lands for Nixon.
Richard Nixon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nixon lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James throws a hook to the side of Nixon's head but Nixon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nixon misses with a straight right.
Nixon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but James was well out of range. Poor timing from Nixon.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nixon throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Nixon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
James walks into a jab.
James lands a head shot.
Nixon cracks James with a good jab.


James is rocked!
Nixon connects with a right hand. James shakes it off.
James is still on wobbly legs! Can Nixon finish him?
James tries to clinch
and Nixon counters with a nice kick to the body.
Nixon throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Nixon is pawing at James, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into James's nose. James is badly hurt! Nixon pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! James tries desperately to hold on but Nixon is relentless in his assault! As James receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Nixon away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Nixon!
A less than humble Richard Nixon misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
