Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arabian Beattie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Nurmi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arabian Beattie!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nurmi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Beattie to the mat! Beattie manages to get full guard.
Nurmi won't allow Beattie to sweep him here.
Beattie looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nurmi puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Nurmi wants to take a breather but Beattie is having none of it.
Nurmi is just content to waste time from the top position. Beattie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Beattie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Beattie avoids the attempt from Nurmi to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beattie is trying to take his opponent's back.
Nurmi is looking to get to half guard.

Nurmi is working hard here to advance position.

Beattie is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Nurmi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
An elbow from Nurmi crashes against the mat.

Nurmi decides to stand back up. Nurmi steps back and let's Beattie get back to his feet.
Beattie tries to clinch but Nurmi is having none of it.
Arabian Beattie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nurmi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Beattie tries to avoid it but Nurmi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Beattie to the ground. Beattie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nurmi gets the takedown into side control.
Beattie struggling a bit here.
Beattie tries to bench press Nurmi off him but Nurmi keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Beattie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nurmi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Nurmi is breathing heavily.
Beattie regains half guard, as Nurmi was trying to land strikes.
Nurmi missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Nurmi is looking to take a break and control but Beattie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Beattie tries to clinch there but Nurmi circles away.
Beattie doesn't manage to clinch there - Nurmi circles away.

Beattie shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beattie showed some decent athleticism there.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Beattie connects with a nice short shot to Nurmi's temple.
Beattie content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Nurmi is staying active underneath Beattie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beattie wants to stand up but Nurmi has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Beattie is working for a kimura but Nurmi is defending it quite comfortably.
Nurmi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beattie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beattie's back!

Nurmi patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Beattie breaks Nurmi's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Beattie trying to control the position from guard on top but Nurmi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fernando Nurmi will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Beattie moves into range and clinches up with Nurmi.
Beattie is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Nurmi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Beattie lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Beattie uses his free foot to push down on Nurmi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nurmi.
Nurmi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Nurmi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Nurmi trying to control but Beattie is working from the bottom.
Beattie seems keen to control Nurmi's posture.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nurmi trying to control the position from guard on top but Beattie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nurmi has gone for a leg lock! Beattie slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nurmi's guard.

Beattie is posturing up here but Nurmi has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Beattie tries to roll out but it's too tight and Beattie has to tap! Slick submission there by Nurmi!
