PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JohnAmund Skaar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skaar's entrance music is Celesty - Vendetta. A fine choice. JohnAmund Skaar had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 266.5lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Johnny English is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skaar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but English swivels and escapes.

English is trying to stand back up but Skaar is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Skaar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
English slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
English wants to stand and escape but Skaar is having none of it.
English keeping moving, preventing Skaar from controlling successfully.
Skaar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

English pushes Skaar off and scrambles back to his feet.
JohnAmund Skaar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

English should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

English bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
English is fighting to break Skaar's control of his arms but Skaar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Skaar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Skaar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Skaar tries to get out of the position.
English would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

English decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Skaar, up you get!

Skaar drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

English throws a sloppy head kick and Skaar moves out of range easily.

Skaar throws an overhand right that lands on English's shoulder, as English tries to avoid the shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Skaar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown by Skaar or perhaps it was just good defense by English which made him look bad.

English is pressed up against the cage. Skaar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag English down to the mat. English avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Skaar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around English's waist but English gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Skaar off to one side.

Skaar shoots for a double leg takedown but English sprawls well. He's pushed Skaar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Skaar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Skaar cracks English with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

English really wants to buck Skaar off and get back to his feet.

Skaar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in English's guard.

English pushes Skaar off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Skaar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with English but English pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Johnny English comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Skaar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
