PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Red Darglio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Ko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Darglio might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Black Keys "Funk #49". Ivan Ko acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 23 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Ivan Ko!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darglio lands with a nice body punch.
Darglio throws a push kick but Ko slaps the foot to one side.
Ko tests Darglio's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ko connects with a jab.
Darglio avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Darglio slips a jab from Ko.
Ko ducks under a wild hook from Darglio.
Darglio misses with a body shot.
Darglio scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ko doesn't seem bothered though.
Darglio throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Ko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Ko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Darglio.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Darglio throws the left hand but Ko avoids the punch easily.
Darglio drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Darglio lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ko circles away quickly and effectively.
Ko misses with an uppercut.
Darglio moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Ko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Darglio connects with a leg kick. Ko looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ko crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Darglio - the referee stops the clock and Ko gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Darglio. Ko manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Ko takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Darglio steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ko.

Ko thows a body shot but no joy.
Darglio lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ko will feel that in the morning.
A combination from Ko does no damage.

Ko has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Darglio.
Good leg kick by Darglio there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Darglio lands a nice looking kick to the body. Ko takes a step back to recover.
Darglio throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ko stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Darglio feints and then cracks Ko's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ko down.

Darglio feints and then cracks Ko's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ko down.

Darglio lands a head kick that stumbles Ko and the fighters go to the mat.

Ko is rocked!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Darglio takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Ko is staying active underneath Darglio, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ko tries to roll over but Darglio keeps him under control.

Darglio tries to land a front kick but Ko steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Darglio scores with a head kick. Ko tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Darglio cracks Ko with an uppercut from hell and Ko crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Darglio's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Darglio wants to control from the top but Ko keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
