Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Humphrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Diego Bermudez!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Bermudez gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Humphrey regains guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Humphrey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bermudez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Humphrey is keeping the position for now.

Humphrey has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bermudez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Humphrey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Humphrey is trying to keep Bermudez in close.
Bermudez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bermudez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bermudez is looking to stand up but Humphrey won't let him.
Humphrey looking to control.

Humphrey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bermudez is aware though and is defending well.
Bermudez forces his way into half guard.

Bermudez wants to work for an arm triangle but Humphrey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Humphrey wants to improve his position but Bermudez is controlling well.
Bermudez slips a nice elbow through Humphrey's hands, connecting with Humphrey's forehead.
Humphrey keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Humphrey manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bermudez wants to control from the top but Humphrey keeps moving.

Bermudez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bermudez controls from within his opponent's guard.

Humphrey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bermudez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Humphrey has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Bermudez doesn't defend quickly enough and Humphrey has managed to lock this one up! Can Bermudez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Humphrey on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Brian Humphrey!
Brian Humphrey very nearly forgot to thank Crippler's Corner amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
