Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Matson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Remember the name kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wayne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Matson was covering up waiting for the punch and Wayne finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

letting Matson counter with a right hand.
Matson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wayne moves away.

Matson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matson wants it to stay on the feet.
Wayne shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Matson pinned against the cage. Matson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Matson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Wayne.
Matson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Wayne takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Good leg kick by Matson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Matson cracks the inside of Wayne's front leg.
Wayne is breathing heavily.
Wayne walks forward, straight into a front kick from Matson.
Wayne moves out of range of the body kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Matson.
Wayne takes a shot to the body in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Matson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Matson throws a leg kick which misses Wayne's front leg but catches the back leg as Wayne tries to avoid it.
Matson tests Wayne's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Matson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Matson buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wayne shoots in but no luck this time.
Matson works the jab nicely.

It looks like John Wayne has been cut.
Wayne tries to move into range but Matson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Matson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

and Matson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Matson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wayne takes a step back to recover.
Wayne takes one to the chin there.
Matson is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Wayne had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Wayne crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Matson - the referee stops the clock and Wayne gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Matson. Wayne manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Wayne takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Matson thuds his right hand into Wayne's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
A lazy left from Matson finds it's target.

Wayne is rocked!
Matson throws a nice inside leg kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The crowd cheers as Matson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wayne doesn't seem phased though.
Oh Wayne is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Josh Matson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wayne.
Matson closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Wayne out cold! Wayne corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
