PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frank Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Landry Saracen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saracen has chosen Bon Jovi - Dead or Alive as his entrance music. Landry Saracen struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Landry Saracen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Killer gets caught flat footed, as Saracen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Saracen pushes down on Killer's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Saracen seems to be working for a kimura but Killer defends the submission attempt.
Killer tries to kick Saracen off but Saracen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Saracen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Killer defends it well.
Killer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Saracen on the ground.

Saracen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Saracen wants to work for an arm triangle but Killer is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Killer is trying to stand.
Saracen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Saracen has hold of Killer's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Killer manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Killer really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Saracen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Killer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Killer shrugs it off.

Saracen looking for a guillotine from mount but Killer is having none of it.

Saracen get's back to his feet.
Killer scoring well with a low kick there.
Killer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saracen was well out of range. Poor timing from Killer.
A clash of legs there as Saracen blocks the low kick.
Killer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Saracen as he jumps to the side.
Saracen tries to clinch up.

Killer works the jab nicely.

Killer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Killer is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Killer's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Saracen has clasped his hands together around Killer's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Saracen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Killer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Saracen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Saracen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Killer to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Saracen lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Killer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Killer throws a leg kick but Saracen checks it.

Saracen gets a takedown into half guard.

Saracen decides to stand and escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saracen sizes up Killer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Saracen drives through with a takedown into Killer's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Landry Saracen dominated that round.
That's time! Killer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Killer throws a sloppy body shot

and Saracen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Saracen tries to free his leg and advance position but Killer is retaining full guard.

Saracen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Killer dives on top into guard.

Killer wants to stand but Saracen has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Killer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Killer stands up from Saracen's guard - Killer perhaps looking for a knockout.
Killer tries to work over Saracen's front leg with a kick but Saracen checks it.

Saracen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Killer on his heels. He'll look to pass Killer's guard now, I'm sure.

Saracen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Saracen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Killer is proving hard to escape from.
Landry Saracen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Saracen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Killer looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Killer looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Killer!

Saracen is looking to regain half guard here but Killer keeps moving and retains side control.
Killer wants to stand but Saracen is controlling his arm.

Killer decides to stand back up.
Landry Saracen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Killer throws a quick inside leg kick.
Saracen keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Killer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Killer feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Saracen's calf.

Saracen shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Killer is trying to defend but Saracen finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saracen is breathing heavily.

Saracen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Saracen seems to be working for a kimura but Killer defends the submission attempt.
Killer wants to get back to his feet.

Saracen gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Saracen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Killer was covering up waiting for the punch and Saracen finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Saracen trying to stand up but can't free himself from Killer's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Saracen has gone for a leg lock! Killer slips out almost immediately though and dives into Saracen's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Landry Saracen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Killer fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Saracen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Saracen seems to be looking for submissions.

Saracen is working for a submission of some sort.
Saracen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Saracen stands up and beckons Killer to join him on the feet.

Saracen checks a low kick from Killer.
Killer swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Killer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Saracen sprawls well. Saracen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Killer gets slowly back to his feet.
Saracen moves out of range as Killer strikes.
Killer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Saracen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Saracen showed some decent athleticism there.
Killer won't allow Saracen to pass to mount.

Killer is staying active underneath Saracen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Saracen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Killer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Saracen is working away from the top position though.

Saracen is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Saracen is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Killer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Killer tries to get out of the position.
Killer trying to control but Saracen postures up.

Saracen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Killer is just riding it out for now. Saracen eventually gives up the hold.
Saracen passes the guard and advances to mount!

Killer tries to hold on but Saracen pushes him away.

Saracen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Killer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Saracen jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Killer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Killer and Saracen has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

And that's the end of the fight!
Landry Saracen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Saracen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
