Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Trent Punchy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punchy comes to the cage accompanied by Trent From Punchy. Mike Freeman has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Punchy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Freeman!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman sizes up Punchy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Freeman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Punchy's half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Freeman in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Freeman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Punchy wants to improve his position but Freeman is controlling well.

Freeman is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Punchy still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Punchy has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Punchy is looking to take a break and control but Freeman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Freeman wants to control but Punchy postures up.

Freeman bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Punchy lands with a straight right. Freeman didn't see that one coming.
Punchy throws a sloppy head kick and Freeman moves out of range easily.
Punchy thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mike Freeman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Freeman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Punchy moves into full guard.
Freeman postures up in Punchy's guard and throws a big left but Punchy blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Punchy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Freeman controls the pace.
Punchy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Freeman has gone for a leg lock! Punchy slips out almost immediately though and dives into Freeman's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Punchy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Freeman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Punchy has managed to get both his arms back between Freeman's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Freeman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Punchy.
Freeman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Punchy pinned against the cage. Punchy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Freeman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Punchy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Punchy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Freeman is one step ahead there.

Freeman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Freeman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Punchy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Freeman has Punchy in his guard.

Freeman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Punchy defends it easily.
Freeman controls Punchy momentarily but Punchy frees himself.

Freeman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Freeman keeping moving, preventing Punchy from controlling successfully.

Freeman working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Punchy has passed into half guard!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Punchy connects with a jab.

Punchy thumps Freeman with a low kick.
Punchy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Freeman has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Punchy goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Freeman dives in and grabs Punchy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Punchy pushes down on Freeman's head and hops out.
Freeman ducks under a wild hook from Punchy.
Punchy looks to score with a jab to the body but Freeman is just out of range.

Freeman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Punchy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Freeman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Freeman tries to free his leg and advance position but Punchy is retaining full guard.

Punchy wants to sweep here but Freeman controlling him for the moment.
Freeman works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Freeman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Freeman is looking for a kimura here.

Punchy looking for submissions off his back.

Freeman is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Punchy defends it well.

Punchy wants to control but Freeman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Freeman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Freeman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Freeman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Punchy controls Freeman momentarily but Freeman frees himself.

Freeman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Freeman looking to sit in guard and control but Punchy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Punchy trying to control the position from guard on top but Freeman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trent Punchy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Punchy throws a big elbow that misses.
Punchy advances position into side control!

Punchy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Freeman tries to improve position but can't.

Trent Punchy showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Freeman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
