PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Karl Grossman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Hashimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grossman comes to the cage accompanied by The Devil's Rejects. Hashimoto has chosen Holding Out For A Hero (Japanese Version) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Grossman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 3, fighting out of New York, Keiji Hashimoto!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hashimoto looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hashimoto looks to score with a jab to the body but Grossman is just out of range.
Hashimoto throws a body punch but Grossman moves out of range.
Hashimoto fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Grossman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hashimoto paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hashimoto lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hashimoto throws out a loose jab but Grossman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Keiji Hashimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hashimoto lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Hashimoto throws a hook but Grossman avoids it easily.

Grossman tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hashimoto avoids it.
Grossman tries to work over Hashimoto's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hashimoto misses with the head strike.
Grossman throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hashimoto blocks it with crossed arms.
Hashimoto tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Grossman avoids it.

Hashimoto lands an elbow inside.

Grossman struggles to land a body shot inside as Hashimoto controls his hands.

Hashimoto tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Grossman tries to land knees in the clinch but Hashimoto avoids the damage to the body.
Grossman avoids the elbow strike from Hashimoto, against the cage.
Hashimoto tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Grossman can't find room to land a body shot as Hashimoto controls the action.

Hashimoto has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Grossman clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Grossman is trying to remain composed but Hashimoto is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Grossman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hashimoto tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grossman was well out of range. Poor timing from Hashimoto.
Grossman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hashimoto.
Hashimoto thows a body shot but no joy.
Karl Grossman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice straight punches there by Grossman. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Grossman.
Hashimoto misses with a hook.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grossman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Grossman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hashimoto lands with a cross.
Grossman wants to clinch up but Hashimoto keeps it at a distance.
Hashimoto takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keiji Hashimoto dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hashimoto looks to throw the jab but Grossman is out of range.
Grossman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hashimoto tries to work over Grossman's front leg with a kick but Grossman checks it.
Grossman throws a leg kick but Hashimoto checks it.

Hashimoto lands with a nice body punch.
Hashimoto checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Grossman looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Grossman darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Grossman misses the jab.
Grossman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hashimoto manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Grossman throws a good cross that connects.
Hashimoto avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hashimoto looks to land a left hand but Grossman moved out of range nicely.

Grossman getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Hashimoto throws a shot to the body.
Nice shot lands for Hashimoto.
Hashimoto throws a hook but Grossman blocks it.
Hashimoto swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Hashimoto dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Grossman. That did some damage!

Hashimoto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Grossman sprawls well initially but Hashimoto persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hashimoto slips a nice elbow through Grossman's hands, connecting with Grossman's forehead.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grossman is trying to control but can't.
Hashimoto thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grossman's head.
Grossman on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Hashimoto is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hashimoto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hashimoto prevents Grossman from improving his position.
Hashimoto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hashimoto is trying for a kimura here. Grossman looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Hashimoto wins by kimura!

Keiji Hashimoto decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
