The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson tries to clinch there but Hoolihan circles away.

Nelson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hoolihan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nelson is in Hoolihan's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Patches Hoolihan will probably get the nod.

Hoolihan stuffs the takedown attempt from Nelson. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet.

Nelson feints and as Hoolihan raises his hands in defense, Nelson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hoolihan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hoolihan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nelson.

Nelson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hoolihan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Nelson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Hoolihan lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Nelson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hoolihan manages to get himself to full guard.

Nelson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nelson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson is pushing down on Hoolihan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hoolihan is fighting to maintain full guard but Nelson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nelson lands a nice short elbow.
Nelson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hoolihan's head.
Hoolihan is positioning himself well to prevent Nelson advancing to mount.

Nelson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hoolihan could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Nelson has cracked it and Hoolihan is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Nelson!
