And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood dodges the punch combination from Akylbekov.
Akylbekov throws a nice looking combination but Wood bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Wood scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wood controlling the pace.

Akylbekov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wood pulls his head out easily.
Akylbekov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wood is looking to advance position but Akylbekov won't allow it.

Wood's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Wood takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Wood is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Akylbekov has managed to free his arm - good work.

Wood is taking a breather. Akylbekov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wood works his way into full mount!

Wood jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Akylbekov manages to avoid the submission attempt.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Well, with Wood on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Akylbekov is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
It looks like Wood might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Akylbekov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Akylbekov duly obliges.
Akylbekov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tolegen Akylbekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wood closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bryan Wood.
Akylbekov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wood moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Akylbekov lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Wood closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bryan Wood was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Wood has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A left lands for Akylbekov.
Akylbekov's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Akylbekov duly obliges.


Wood is rocked!
Wood gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Wood is still on wobbly legs! Can Akylbekov finish him?
Akylbekov is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Wood like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Wood from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tolegen Akylbekov!
