Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Settler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Cayouette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mario Settler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mario Settler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlo Cayouette!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cayouette jabs Settler right on the nose. Settler blinks but takes it well.
Settler looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Cayouette closes the distance and clinches.

Cayouette manages to break the clinch.
Cayouette is looking to slow Settler down with leg kicks.
Cayouette will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Settler leaves Cayouette with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cayouette.
Mario Settler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlo Cayouette.
Cayouette tries to clinch up but Settler circles away and keeps his distance.
Mario Settler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cayouette feints and as Settler raises his hands in defense, Cayouette changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Settler really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Cayouette prevents Settler from getting back to his feet.

Cayouette stands and throws Settler's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cayouette fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Cayouette postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Settler is letting Cayouette control him for a moment.

Cayouette is trying to get an arm triangle but Settler is defending well.

Cayouette decides to stand up, so the ref orders Settler to his feet.

Cayouette tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cayouette throws a head kick but Settler moves out of range.

Cayouette takes the fight into the clinch.

Cayouette pulls guard successfully.
Settler is fighting to break Cayouette's control of his arms but Cayouette is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Settler wants to stand but Cayouette is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cayouette has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cayouette manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Cayouette trying to control but Settler is having none of it.

Cayouette has hold of Settler's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Settler manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cayouette controlling the position easily from mount.

Cayouette sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Cayouette takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poor strikes thrown by Cayouette there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

That's time! Settler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Settler throws a right and a left that Cayouette avoids nicely.
Cayouette fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Settler avoids it really well and circles away.
Settler uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cayouette.
Cayouette shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cayouette tries for a takedown but Settler sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Cayouette is looking to clinch but Settler is avoiding it.
Cayouette shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Settler sprawls well. Settler wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cayouette gets slowly back to his feet.
Settler throws a right and a left that Cayouette avoids nicely.
Nice uppercut lands for Cayouette. That snapped Settler's head back.

Settler fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cayouette looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cayouette changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Settler tries to avoid it but Cayouette manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Settler to the ground. Settler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Cayouette is trying hard to land a takedown here. Settler sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Settler misses with a two punch combination.
A head kick from Cayouette lands but Settler takes it in his stride.
Settler stalks Cayouette and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cayouette's face. Cayouette staggers backwards, shaken.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cayouette will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Settler counters with a three punch combo that has Cayouette backing up. Cayouette nods at Settler to acknowledge the strikes.

Settler tries to keep at a distance but Cayouette has taken the fight into the clinch.
Cayouette drops down looking for an ankle pick but Settler pulls his leg out and moves away.
Settler connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Cayouette pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Carlo Cayouette is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Settler on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mario Settler.
Well Cayouette has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
