PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Kannostky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mibbe Ribbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kannostky comes to the cage accompanied by Dead cold inside. Ribbler is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bad Religion - Los Angeles Is Burning. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribbler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kannostky wants to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kannostky.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ribbler is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Kannostky is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ribbler can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ribbler wants to control but Kannostky is keeping busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kannostky is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ribbler is just riding it out for now. Kannostky eventually gives up the hold.

Kannostky shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ribbler's guard.

Ribbler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kannostky postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ribbler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kannostky, into his guard.

Ribbler is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Kannostky can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ribbler controls the pace.

Ribbler stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kannostky tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ribbler paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kannostky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ribbler was well out of range. Poor timing from Kannostky.

Kannostky has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ribbler is trying to keep an underhook but Kannostky manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ribbler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ribbler.
Kannostky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mibbe Ribbler was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Kannostky shoots in and bounces Ribbler off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ribbler lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kannostky!

Ribbler wants to control the pace but Kannostky is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ribbler lands a big shot there that rocks Kannostky but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Kannostky moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ribbler.
Kannostky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ribbler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ribbler cracks Kannostky with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
