The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Halliday.

Loiseau is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Halliday defends it well.

Loiseau wants to lay and pray for a moment but Halliday keeps working.

Loiseau is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Loiseau is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Halliday is just riding it out for now. Loiseau eventually gives up the hold.
Loiseau has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Halliday is not content to let Loiseau control the position.

Loiseau connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Halliday tumbling to the canvas! Loiseau pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Halliday was done - good stoppage!
