PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Aoki Kakashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kakashi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ASAP Rocky-Palace. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aoki Kakashi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anthony Wright!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright tries to clinch

and Kakashi holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Kakashi jumps guard and drags Wright to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wright content to stall in guard here.
Kakashi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kakashi is really struggling to control Wright but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Kakashi keeping full guard, as Wright tries to pass.
Kakashi is trying to keep Wright in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Aoki Kakashi just wasn't active enough.
Wright moves to clinch but Kakashi breaks away

and Kakashi counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kakashi is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Wright can't fight it off and eventually Kakashi manages to take the fight to the floor. Wright looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kakashi postures up.
Wright has his hands on Kakashi's head, controlling the position.
Kakashi wants to pass the guard but Wright is keeping the position.
Kakashi is working hard here to advance position.

Kakashi wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kakashi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wright pinned against the cage. Wright gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kakashi shoots in for a takedown but Wright shows good takedown defense.
Wright misses with a double jab

and Kakashi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wright has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kakashi is working away from the top position though.
Kakashi wants to take a breather but Wright is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kakashi seems to be working for a kimura but Wright defends the submission attempt.

Kakashi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wright keeps working.
Kakashi slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Kakashi trying to control the action but Wright is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aoki Kakashi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Wright forces Kakashi back against the cage and clinches.

Kakashi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kakashi reaches up to try and control the position but Wright seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Kakashi rolls and tries to escape and now Wright has his back!

Kakashi is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Wright is trying to stick to Kakashi's back but Kakashi is turning into Wright. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wright's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kakashi.

Kakashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wright swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wright tries to clinch up but Kakashi circles away and keeps his distance.

Kakashi tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wright just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kakashi is trying to control the position but Wright postures up.

Wright wants to stand but Kakashi is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wright sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kakashi's guard.
Wright throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kakashi is trying to control but can't.
Kakashi is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Wright scores with a couple of nice shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kakashi gets full guard.
Kakashi is pulling down on Wright's head to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Wright showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Kakashi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kakashi.
Kakashi is trying to pull guard but Wright turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Kakashi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kakashi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Wright has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kakashi is proving hard to escape from.

Wright must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kakashi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wright connects with a nice short shot to Kakashi's temple.

Wright working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Aoki Kakashi had his way with Anthony Wright in that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kakashi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Wright counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kakashi!

Wright is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kakashi has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kakashi!

Aoki Kakashi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kakashi is rocked!

Wright is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kakashi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kakashi shrugs it off.
Oh Kakashi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Wright scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Wright is landing with some decent strikes but Kakashi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Wright manages to capitalize on a mistake by Kakashi to take his back!

Our winner, Anthony Wright, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
