PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jambo Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ursus Maritimus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddel's entrance music is Just One Last Time. A fine choice. Ursus Maritimus told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maritimus avoids the head kick by Liddel.
Maritimus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Liddel but Liddel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Maritimus circles away from the clinch attempt.
Maritimus fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Maritimus misses with an uppercut. Liddel saw that one coming.

Liddel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Maritimus moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Maritimus is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ursus Maritimus wasn't active enough on the ground.
Liddel looks for the body kick but Maritimus saw that one coming.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Liddel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maritimus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Maritimus throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Liddel's waist but Liddel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maritimus off to one side.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Liddel crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Maritimus - the referee stops the clock and Liddel gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Maritimus. Liddel manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Jambo Liddel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Maritimus feints and then cracks Liddel's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Liddel down.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

I would just about give that final round to Ursus Maritimus.
