Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jame Call (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Shumanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vladimir Shumanov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jame Call!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Shumanov!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Call throws a head kick but Shumanov moves out of range.
Shumanov shoots in for a takedown but Call shows good takedown defense.
Shumanov shoots in looking for a takedown. Call tries to sprawl out of it but Shumanov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Call manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Call clinches up against the cage.
Call tries for a takedown but Shumanov manages to get underhooks.
Call is pressed up against the cage. Shumanov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Call down to the mat. Call avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jame Call has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladimir Shumanov.
Shumanov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Call circles away.
Call misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shumanov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shumanov wants it to stay on the feet.
Shumanov shoots in and drives through. Call sprawls well.

Call thows a body shot but no joy.

Call dives in and grabs Shumanov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shumanov pushes down on Call's head and hops out.
Call swats away the attempt to clinch by Shumanov.

Shumanov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Call avoids it really well and circles away.

Shumanov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Call to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Shumanov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Call!

Shumanov prevents Call from getting the reversal.

Shumanov looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Call is working to get back to half guard.
Shumanov trying to control but Call is having none of it.
Call tries to hold on but Shumanov pushes him away.

Call is desperately trying to improve his position but Shumanov has a good base and remains in mount.
Shumanov scoring with strikes but Call is staying in there.
Call keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Call is breathing heavily.
Call has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
Shumanov trying to control momentarily.

Shumanov looking for the choke but no joy.

Shumanov struggling to keep hold of the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Call looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Shumanov controlling well, preventing Call from escaping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vladimir Shumanov will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Shumanov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Call swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Call takes the fight into the clinch.

Call pulls guard.
Call seems keen to control Shumanov's posture.
Shumanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Call is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Call keeping full guard, as Shumanov tries to pass.

Shumanov won't allow Call to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Shumanov wants to clinch.

Call shoots in and bounces Shumanov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Shumanov throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Call postures up.
Call knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shumanov on the ground.

Call stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shumanov swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Call slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Shumanov is trying to control the position but Call postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Vladimir Shumanov.
Shumanov stuffs the takedown.
Call defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shumanov.
Shumanov cracks a nice hook into Call's ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
No luck for Shumanov with that takedown attempt.

Call is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shumanov is standing up over Call. Call looks to escape but Shumanov dives into side control.

Shumanov wants to control but Call is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Call is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shumanov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shumanov misses with a takedown attempt - Call sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shumanov.
Call lands a nice looking body shot.
Shumanov takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Call defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shumanov.

Shumanov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Call counters by clinching up.

Call shoots in looking for a takedown. Shumanov tries to sprawl out of it but Call keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shumanov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Call misses with a low kick.
Call throws a solid leg kick but Shumanov takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Call.
Call fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Call swats away the attempt to clinch by Shumanov.
Shumanov tries to close the distance and clinch but Call swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shumanov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Call tries to avoid it but Shumanov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Call to the ground. Call escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Call avoids a punch combination nicely.
Call keeps the fight on the outside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Call fails with a takedown attempt.
Shumanov tries for a takedown but Call sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shumanov looks for a takedown but Call sprawls well.
Shumanov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Call.
Shumanov tries to clinch there but Call circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Shumanov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Calls jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Call avoids the head kick by Shumanov.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jame Call.
I think Call has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
