These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malapitan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jiu Jitsu circles away.

and Jiu Jitsu makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Malapitan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jiu Jitsu quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malapitan is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jiu Jitsu tries to get to full guard but Malapitan has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Malapitan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jiu Jitsu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Malapitan.

Malapitan is nestled in close to Jiu Jitsu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
