PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Millar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Paddy Ryan was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Millar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paddy Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Millar drives through and clinches with Ryan against the cage.
Millar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ryan lands a hook to the side of the head.
Millar tries to break free but Ryan pushes him back against the cage.

Millar successfully pulls guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ryan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Millar keeping moving, preventing Ryan from controlling successfully.
Millar wants to sweep here but Ryan controlling him for the moment.
Ryan trying to control but Millar is working from the bottom.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Paddy Ryan wasn't active enough on the ground.
Millar needs to keep his hands up - Ryan had a free shot at his head there.

Ryan closes the distance and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ryan lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Ryan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan works the jab nicely.

Millar fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ryan to the ground. Millar is now in Ryan's guard.
Millar wants to get up but he can't break Ryan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ryan is looking to stand up but Millar isn't so interested in that idea.

Ryan kicks Millar off and gets to his feet.
Ryan swats away the attempt to clinch by Millar.
Millar shoots in but Ryan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fighters circling - Ryan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A jab lands there for Ryan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Millar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Millar tries to clinch there but Ryan circles away.

Millar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Millar working the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Millar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Ryan lands a nice shot to the body.
Ryan stuffs the takedown attempt from Millar. Millar gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Millar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Millar doesn't manage to clinch there - Ryan circles away.
Millar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Millar tries to clinch there but Ryan circles away.
Millar tries a head kick but it misses.
Millar takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Millar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Millar is breathing heavily.
Ryan tests Millar's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Dan Millar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan lands a nice looking body kick.
Millar has his takedown stuffed
and Ryan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lazy left from Ryan finds it's target.
Ryan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ryan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Millar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ryan sprawls well. Ryan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Millar gets slowly back to his feet.
Paddy Ryan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ryan clinches up against the cage.
Ryan softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Ryan breaks from the clinch.
Nice uppercut there from Ryan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Millar shoots in looking for a takedown but Ryan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Millar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Millar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Millar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Millar takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ryan bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Millar's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ryan lands a big head kick that sends Millar tumbling to the mat! Ryan takes a step backwards and waves Millar back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Millar is rocked!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ryan lands a left hand that snaps the head of Millar backwards.
Millar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ryan prevents it.
Ryan throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Millar's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ryan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A shot in the inside from Ryan.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Ryan.
Ryan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Millar backwards.
Ryan lands a body punch.
Ryan lands a shot to the body.
Ryan landing knees to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ryan drops Millar onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Millar is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Oh Millar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nice body punch from Ryan.
Millar takes a knee right on the jaw!

Ryan pushes Millar against the cage. Ryan is working some dirty boxing. Ryan pushes off with a quick right hook! Millar goes down! Millar tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Ryan moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paddy Ryan!
After winning the bout, Paddy Ryan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
