The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machin fails to land the takedown.

Machin dives in and scores a takedown into Arroyo's guard.

Machin postures up in Arroyo's guard and throws a big left but Arroyo blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Arroyo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Machin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Arroyo wants to get back to his feet but Machin drags him back down.

Machin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Arroyo has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Machin but great work by Arroyo.
Arroyo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Machin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Machin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Machin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Arroyo is working away from the top position though.
