Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Julius Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Achmed Mohammed!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mohammed tried to score with a low kick but Maia checks it.
Mohammed throws a big shot that misses.
Maia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mohammed but Mohammed pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Maia walks into a jab.
Mohammed thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mohammed misses the shot to the body.
Mohammed lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Maia takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Maia scores a takedown into full mount!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Maia is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Maia looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maia unloads with some shots from mount but Mohammed bucks and avoids them well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maia jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mohammed manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Maia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mohammed keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maia tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Maia wants to control but Mohammed is keeping him busy.

Maia is trying to get an arm triangle but Mohammed is defending well.
Mohammed is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maia lands an elbow.
Maia cracks Mohammed with a big elbow.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mohammed can do anything to dispel that myth.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Maia is trying to get an arm triangle but Mohammed is defending well.

Maia tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Maia trying to control the action but Mohammed is working from the bottom.
Mohammed tries to buck Maia off but Maia is having none of it.

Maia is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Mohammed is trying to escape and Maia transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Mohammed is forced to tap! Nice work there by Maia! Very nice indeed!
