Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edward Charles Brock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Barton!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brock with a lazy takedown attempt
and Barton counters with a series of strikes. Brock will be more careful next time no doubt.
Brock shoots for a double leg takedown but Barton sprawls well. He's pushed Brock's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barton throws a lazy right hand but Brock sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Barton fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Brock checks it well.
Barton throws a body punch but Brock moves out of range.
Barton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Brock stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Brock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barton sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Barton is looking to take a break and control but Brock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Brock throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barton is just content to waste time from the top position. Brock takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Brock closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Brock looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Brock dives in and grabs Barton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barton pushes down on Brock's head and hops out.

Barton is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Brock can't fight it off and eventually Barton manages to take the fight to the floor. Brock looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Barton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Barton throws a big right hand that misses.

Brock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barton defends it easily.

Brock is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barton is aware though and is defending well.

Barton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Barton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brock has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barton has managed to get both his arms back between Brock's legs - danger averted.

Brock looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Barton has picked Brock up and slammed him! Brock can't keep hold of the triangle and Barton manages to pass to side control!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jack Barton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Barton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Barton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brock accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brock drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Barton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brock has Barton in his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Edward Charles Brock.
Well Barton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
