The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Max gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cottrell to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Max tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cottrell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Max throws a leg kick that misses.

and Cottrell counters with a single leg into guard. Max didn't expect that.
Max might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cottrell is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Max is trying to escape and Cottrell transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Max is forced to tap! Nice work there by Cottrell! Very nice indeed!
