Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy Amlet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Roman!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Amlet gets caught napping as Roman dives in and scores a takedown. Amlet manages to retain guard.
Roman wants to control from the top but Amlet keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roman throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Amlet works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Roman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Roman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roman wants to stand but Amlet is controlling his posture from full guard.
Amlet is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Amlet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Roman throws an elbow that misses. Amlet uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roman's guard. Nice move by Amlet!
Amlet is pushing down on Roman's leg trying to pass to half guard. Roman is fighting to maintain full guard but Amlet has managed to sneak the leg through.
Amlet is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Roman is just riding it out for now. Amlet eventually gives up the hold.
Amlet is working for a submission of some sort.
Amlet is looking to pass Roman's guard but actually Roman recovers to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amlet postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Roman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Amlet, into his guard.
Amlet is looking to sinch up a triangle. Roman throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Amlet's body to avoid the submission. Amlet has instead reached around Roman's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Amlet arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jimmy Amlet!
