PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maku Hiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maku Hiro!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiro comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Hiro darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva is trying to stand.
Hiro is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hiro working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hiro looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silva with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Silva tries to kick Hiro off but Hiro keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Hiro lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hiro drops an elbow to the side of Silva's head.
Hiro stops Silva from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hiro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hiro landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hiro lands with a punch from half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Hiro is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Silva takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva is in a horrible position here. Hiro smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Silva is rocked!
Silva's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hiro lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

You get the feeling that Silva really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Silva is breathing heavily.

BOOM! Hiro connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hiro unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Silva wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Hiro celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
