Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Punching Bag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gladiator Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Punching Bag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gladiator Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Bag scores with a jab to the jaw.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Johnson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Bag displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.
Johnson tries to clinch

and Bag counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bag dodges the punch combination from Johnson.
Bag sizes up Johnson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Johnson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bag's waist but Bag gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Johnson off to one side.
Punching Bag has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gladiator Johnson.

Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bag leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bag jabs Johnson right on the nose. Johnson blinks but takes it well.
Johnson moves to clinch but Bag breaks away
and Bag counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Bag is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Bag jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Johnson moves to clinch but Bag breaks away
enabling Bag to counter with a crisp jab.

and Bag counters with a left to the body.

Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bag sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.

Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bag pinned against the cage. Bag gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bag throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Johnson counters with a nice body kick.
Johnson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Bag cracks Johnson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Johnson shoots for a takedown but Bag saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Johnson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gladiator Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Bag stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bag wants it to stay on the feet.
Johnson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and Bag counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed right hand from Bag misses the target.

Johnson has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bag throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Bag throws a lazy right hand but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Johnson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
letting Bag counter with a right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Johnson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bag as he jumps to the side.
Johnson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Johnson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bag swivels and escapes.
Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bag keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Bag looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely.
Bag misses with an uppercut. Johnson saw that one coming.
Bag's corner calls for a 1-2. Bag obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Johnson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bag fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Johnson is trying desperately to land a takedown but Bag is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Johnson.

Gladiator Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bag connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Johnson's hands.

Punching Bag showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bag has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
