Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eye Phone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paulo Claudio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Phone.
Phone looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Claudio is fending him off so far but Phone persists. Nope, Claudio circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eye Phone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Phone has his takedown stuffed
and Claudio counters with a three punch combo that has Phone backing up. Phone nods at Claudio to acknowledge the strikes.
Claudio's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Phone connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Claudio scrambles back to his feet.
Phone throws a right hand that misses

and Claudio holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Phone drops down looking for an ankle pick but Claudio pulls his leg out and moves away.
Eye Phone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Claudio fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Phone with a lazy takedown attempt
and Claudio makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Sloppy strikes from Phone. Those never looked like landing.
Danga de danga de dang - Claudio scores with a four punch combination!
Phone throws out a powerful jab.
Phone shoots and misses
and Claudio counters with a low kick, right behind Phone 's knee.

Phone manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Claudio on his heels. He'll look to pass Claudio's guard now, I'm sure.
Phone throws an elbow that misses. Claudio uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Phone's guard. Nice move by Claudio!
Phone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Phone wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Claudio is fighting to break Phone's control of his arms but Phone is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Phone is trying to control the position but Claudio postures up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Eye Phone wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Phone shoots in looking for a takedown. Claudio tries to sprawl out of it but Phone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Claudio manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Phone is breathing heavily.
Phone misses with a right hand

and Claudio moves into the clinch.
Phone has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Claudio is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Phone is trying to pull guard but Claudio turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

A nice right hand lands inside from Claudio.

Phone tries for a takedown. No joy.
Claudio lands a hook that snaps the head of Phone backwards.
Claudio lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh Phone is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Claudio has Phone pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Phone is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Claudio - that's hurt Phone badly! Oh, another knee lands and Phone is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Phone doesn't seem to be complaining.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Paulo Claudio!
