PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nacho El Hombre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. How To Love kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nacho El Hombre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson shoots for a takedown but El Hombre saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
El Hombre throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
El Hombre lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
El Hombre swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
El Hombre throws a combination. Johnson tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but El Hombre sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nacho El Hombre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
El Hombre stalks Johnson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Johnson's face. Johnson staggers backwards, shaken.
El Hombre throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely.

El Hombre gets caught napping as Johnson dives in and scores a takedown. El Hombre manages to retain guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Johnson trying to control but El Hombre is working from the bottom.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Johnson postures up in El Hombre's guard and throws a big left but El Hombre blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. El Hombre swivels though and keeps the full guard.
El Hombre keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! El Hombre is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and El Hombre manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into El Hombre's guard.
El Hombre avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Johnson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed El Hombre's head.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Johnson working over El Hombre with some ground and pound. El Hombre looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson thows a huge punch but El Hombre dodges it nicely.
El Hombre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Johnson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. El Hombre tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Johnson!

After winning the bout, Jack Johnson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
