The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jawara is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kai wants to finish this one by submission but Jawara is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kai.

You get the feeling that Jawara really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Kai is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jawara defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Kai is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jawara is just riding it out for now. Kai eventually gives up the hold.

Jawara is trying to stand up here but Kai is controlling him well.
Matt Kai has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kai has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Jawara is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kai yanks on the arm and Jawara is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kai.
