Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Chen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piugnu Kopo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chen's entrance music is Surfing with the Alien. A fine choice. Piugnu Kopo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sam Chen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Piugnu Kopo!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kopo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chen pinned against the ropes. Chen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kopo misses with a takedown attempt - Chen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Chen thows a body shot but no joy.
Kopo moves into range and clinches up with Chen.
Chen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kopo breaks from the clinch.
Kopo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chen but Chen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sam Chen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Piugnu Kopo.

Kopo tries to clinch but Chen moves away
and Chen counters with a crisp right hand that drops Kopo! Chen lets Kopo back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Kopo is rocked!
It looks like Piugnu Kopo has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chen wants to clinch up but Kopo keeps it at a distance.
Chen tries to close the distance and clinch but Kopo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kopo moves into the clinch.
Kopo has Chen pressed against the ropes, preventing Chen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kopo is trying to break free.
Kopo wants a takedown but no success here.
Chen wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kopo breaks the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kopo tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Chen counters by clinching up.
Kopo drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Chen prevents a takedown attempt there.
Chen prevents the takedown attempt.
Kopo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chen keeps control of Kopo as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kopo prevents Chen from breaking the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Chen's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kopo jumps guard but Chen turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
Chen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kopo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kopo moves into the clinch.
Kopo breaks from the clinch.
Chen moves in looking to clinch but Kopo pushes him off.
Chen stuns Kopo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Chen cracks Kopo on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Kopo falls backwards against the ropes. Chen follows up with more strikes that drop Kopo to his knees. Chen keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Kopo! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sam Chen!
