PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Gonna Fly Now (metal version by Sylvain Cloux). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rocky Walker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocky Walker!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots for a takedown but Walker saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
No luck for Brown with that takedown attempt.
Walker throws a front kick aimed at Brown's knee but Brown avoids it well.
Walker misses with a wild combination.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Walker to the mat! Walker manages to get full guard.
Brown controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Walker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Walker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Walker utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brown is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We're going to have a standup here because Bobby Brown wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Walker gets a clinch.
Brown has Walker pressed against the cage, preventing Walker from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Walker wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brown has him pressed against the cage.
Walker can't break the clinch.
Brown is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Walker pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walker has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Brown tries to pull guard but Walker won't allow it.
Walker is trying to break the clinch but Brown has him pressed against the cage.

Brown drops down looking for an ankle pick but Walker pulls his leg out and moves away.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brown sprawls well. Brown wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
Walker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Brown manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Walker throws the kick towards the body but Brown avoids it.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Walker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Brown shoots in and bounces Walker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Walker wants to sweep here but Brown controlling him for the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker has momentary wrist control but Brown slips an elbow through the middle.

Brown is pushing down on Walker's leg trying to pass to half guard. Walker is fighting to maintain full guard but Brown has managed to sneak the leg through.

Still in half guard, Brown seems content to control.
Brown has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Brown thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Brown is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walker has escaped and now he's on top!

Walker slaps away a takedown attempt from Brown, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Walker sizes up Brown with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Brown lands a two punch combo.
The fighters circling - Walker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brown is trying hard to land a takedown here. Walker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Brown counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Walker's guard now.
Bobby Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Walker, up you get!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Walker tries to avoid it but Brown manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Walker to the ground. Walker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Brown lands a nice looking body shot.
Brown darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Walker connects with a nice looking jab.
Walker misses with a double jab
and Brown counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Walker is looking to land body kicks.
Brown scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Walker doesn't manage to clinch there - Brown circles away.
Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brown dives in and grabs Walker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes down on Brown's head and hops out.

Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.
Brown really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brown stuffs the takedown attempt from Walker. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.

Brown closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Walker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Walker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brown kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Brown looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Brown is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Walker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Walker tries to escape but Brown is in control.

Brown tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brown has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brown working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bobby Brown is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brown wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Walker, who protects the arm well.
Rocky Walker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walker controls the position for a moment.

Bobby Brown showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brown, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
